Historic former Label on factory to be converted to Apartments
The project will transform a long-abandoned Labelon factory located in the central Business District of Downtown Canandaigua into a 51-unit apartment complex.
The building was once the nation's largest manufacturer of women's corsets until it began producing parachutes for bombs and signal flares during World War II. The site has been vacant since 2002 and has since gone through a Brownfield site cleanup, which removes and seals contaminants from previously developed land.
Developer Joel Barrett said the project aims to breathe new life into the historic property and add a new, unique space to live in the thriving Canandaigua community.
